Wilpattu NP - The unique feature of this park is the existence of Villus. The park is 1317 km2 and nearly 106 lakes and tanks are found throughout the National Park. This is the largest and one of the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka. Wilpattu is among the top world renowned national park for its leopard population.

Yala NP - This is an huge area of forest, grassland and lagoons bordering the Indian Ocean on SE Sri Lanka is home to wildlife such as elephants, leopards, crocodiles and hundreds of bird species.

Minneriya NP - The area is in the dry zone of Sri Lanka and extends to 8889ha and the main habitats of Minneriya are several types of forests and as a dry season feeding ground for the elephants population dwelling in parts of Matale ,Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee districts.

Kaudulla NP - The region receives an annual rainfall of 1500-2000mm and attracts a large number of herbivorous mammals to the park in an area of 6900ha.

Udawalawa NP - This park lies in the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of Udawalawa reservoir on the Walawa river. Udawalawa is an important habitat for Sri Lankan elephants and painted storks are among the many water birds that migrate to the park..

Bundala NP - This is an internationally important wintering ground for migratory birds in an area of 3500ha.Bundala became the first wetland to be declared as a Ramsar site in Sri Lanka has been identified as an outstanding important bird area in the South Indian and Sri Lankan wetlands.

Sinharaja Rain Forest - Sinharaja is the country’s last viable area of primary tropical rain forest and more than 60% of the trees are endemic and many of them are rare. The reserve is also home to 50% Sri Lankan endemic species of birds, mammals, reptiles, butterflies and amphibians and insects.
