 Sri Lanka is a country of Birds although small it has a wide range habitat and over 435 species of birds, out of which there are 33 endemic most important.
      
    Sri Lanka is situated 10 degrees North of the Equator comprises of diverse and favorable climate and natural habitat for birds. Forests-grasslands-marshy wetlands and lagoons are mainly breeding grounds for different species of birds and there are about 200 migratory birds both terrestrial and aquatic. Birding Sri Lanka means visiting its three main habitats- Wet Zone-Dry Zone and the Hill Country. Sinharaja Rain Forest is the main bird watching destination in the wet zone; Horton Plains and Galways covering hill country and Yala national park and Bundala national park in the dry zone. Sri Lanka’s birds diversity is low and the endemics are primarily in the wet zone and the country is just very birdy with population of most species.
